In today's job market, candidates have more power than ever before. The traditional barriers between job seekers and hiring managers are dissolving, creating unprecedented opportunities for those who know how to navigate this new landscape. Hiring managers are now more accessible, driven by the need to build their own personal brands amidst the challenges of their careers. This shift opens doors for proactive candidates to engage directly with decision-makers, turning the job search process into a two-way street.

Imagine building your personal brand while actively pursuing roles you're passionate about. By bravely engaging with hiring managers, you can make a lasting impression and stand out from the competition. This approach not only enhances your visibility but also positions you as a forward-thinking candidate in the eyes of potential employers.
Referrals are the #1 way to get a new job. You get them from being active on LinkedIn
In this process, you'll learn to leverage AI in your job search, following the digital footprints of your dream companies to get your foot in the door the right way. By adopting these strategies, you'll gain the skills and confidence needed to seize control of your career and land the job you've always wanted.
After all, what are the chances of your profile being picked out of 350 applicants?
350 applications to one role. This daunting number can be overwhelming for any job seeker. But with the right strategies, you can stand out and increase your chances of being noticed by hiring managers.
By leveraging AI tools and personalised outreach methods, you can turn the odds in your favor. Don't just be another name in the list—be the standout candidate that hiring managers remember. Learn how to optimise your job search and make your profile shine among the competition
Targeted Company Research
Instead of blindly applying to jobs on job boards, take the time to identify 7-10 companies that align with your skills, interests, and career goals. Use job postings to determine which roles are the best fit for you.
Steps to Take:
Identify potential employers using LinkedIn to find 3 potential hiring managers per company, filtering by location and job titles.
Obtain their email addresses for free using tools like Apollo and Clay.
Compile all the information (company, hiring manager names, email addresses) into a spreadsheet or Google Sheet.
Repeat this process to find multiple hiring contacts in the same company
Sales Navigator was used in this example but you can still search LinkedIn without it
Personalised Email Outreach
Rather than mass-applying, focus on sending personalised emails to your curated list of hiring contacts. Here's the recommended approach:
Send 3 emails per hour, scheduling them to avoid going into spam folders.
Use a short and catchy subject line, such as "[Hiring Manager's First Name] - The Perfect [Role] for [Company]".
Include a bullet point summary from your CV that highlights your fit for the role, and request the opportunity to provide your full CV.
Nurture Relationships
Don't expect an immediate response. Follow up with your contacts every 3-5 days if you don't hear back initially. Also, engage with them on LinkedIn to stay top-of-mind. Keep in natural, you want to share content on the areas you both share interests in. You don’t want to overdo the engagement with one person, you scale this by repeating the process with multiple hiring contacts.
Leverage KOLs
Reach out and engage with key opinion leaders who talk around the job you want. Be a part of that conversation, you will also improve your knowledge & pick up specific talking points. These points could then be used in the emails you send, selling yourself. Don't settle for traditional job search methods - unlock your full potential with these proven strategies.
Optimised CV & LinkedIn Profile
For the CV:
Include a bullet point summary at the beginning outlining why you are the ideal candidate for the role. These bullet points should directly relate to the job description.
Highlight all technical skills (e.g., Python, SQL) in bold in the bullet point summary to catch the hiring manager's eye.
Structure the CV in the following order: profile summary, technical skills, projects, work experience, education. Keep it concise, ideally 1-2 pages.
Treat the CV as a sales document, not just a list of your experiences.
For the LinkedIn Profile:
Upload a high-quality, professional headshot. Only 23% of individuals on LinkedIn have a clear, HD headshot.
Craft a catchy headline that showcases your specialty or niche expertise, along with your most relevant job titles.
Include a short, two-paragraph bio that provides more details about your industry experience, key projects, technical skills, and the types of companies you would thrive in.
Use a natural, relevant background image that aligns with your location, specialty, or motivation (e.g., a cityscape if you're an AI engineer in London).
